Genesius - Pirates of Penzance

Pirates of Penzance

By W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan

DIRECTED BY – Dara Tatarowicz

Musical Director: Jenny Parker Scott

Choreographer: Becka Malanios

Get ready to set sail for a topsy-turvy, high-seas adventure full of laughter, mischief, and music!

The Pirates of Penzance is a playful, fast-paced adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan’s beloved comic opera — made just right for young performers and audiences.

When Frederic, a young pirate-in-training, realizes he was mistakenly apprenticed to a band of silly (but surprisingly polite!) pirates, he’s eager to leave the crew and live an honest life. But his sense of duty keeps getting him into hilarious trouble — especially when he meets the beautiful Mabel and her very large family of sisters, all watched over by their bumbling but brave father, the Major-General!

Can Frederic keep his promise to the pirates and win Mabel’s heart? Will the Pirate King outsmart everyone? And will the Major-General finally get a moment of peace?

Join us for this world premiere edition created by Genesius Theatre, where the spirit of Gilbert and Sullivan’s topsy-turvy humor comes alive in a fun-filled musical adventure celebrating friendship, loyalty, and laughter!

SYNOPSIS

In this Topsy-turvey world, Frederic has spent his life serving with a band of kind-hearted pirates who would rather sing than steal. As his apprenticeship comes to an end, he decides to leave the pirate life behind — until he falls in love with Mabel, the daughter of the Major-General.

Everything seems perfect until Frederic learns a shocking secret: because he was born on February 29, his contract with the pirates doesn’t end until he’s 84 years old! Suddenly, Frederic finds himself torn between love and loyalty.

The story sails through twists, turns, mistaken identities, and joyful songs — from the famous “Modern Major-General” to “Poor Wand’ring One.” With plenty of action, humor, and heart, The Pirates of Penzance (Kids Edition) shows that being brave sometimes means following your heart — even when things get a little piratical!
